This mod mutes the background music in Luigi's Mansion 3D. Thank you to Zex and Xayr from the Luigi's Bigger Mansion Discord server, Zex for providing general guidance on how to use Citric Composer, and Xayr for providing general knowledge of the Luigi's Mansion game itself.

This mod was very time consuming and required a lot of troubleshooting in certain problem areas, the worst of which was figuring out how to retain Luigi's whistling in liberated areas, along with his frightened murmuring and the ghost noises that play in dark araes, while not having the musical instruments play, but at last, this task has now been achieved. Jingles such as the one that plays when Luigi gets a key, gets a heart key, liberates a room, beats a boss, Professor E. Gadd's ringtone, the ringtone from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Melody Pianissima (the piano ghost's) battle music and her quiz music have all been kept, in order to maintain the character of the game. There is a slight almost unnoticeable loss in the emphatic sounds for the jingle that plays when you get a heart key, but this is an unfortunate side-effect of having to mute the instruments that play as Luigi murmurs in dark areas. Also, the music for the introduction cutscene and the cutscene that plays each time Luigi returns to the mansion have not been muted, as this would result in muting the scenes themselves, and the scenes do contain sound effects.

This mod is superior to the GameCube version's No BGM Action Replay code, which doesn't retain any of the above mentioned jingles, whistling, or frightened murmuring.

There are 2 separate xdelta patch files. One is labeled 3DS, meaning that it is meant to be used to patch a .cia file of the game, which can then be installed on a modded 3DS console. The second xdelta patch file is meant to be used to patch a .3ds file of the game, so that it can be used in an emulator like Citra. Please don't be confused by this explanation. .3ds files are for emulators like Citra, and .cia files are for original 3DS hardware. Also, be sure to backup your Luigi's Mansion 3D save file on your 3DS, if you have one, because installing a new .cia file of LM3D will wipe over the old one and its save data.
