Final Fantasy 1 Critical Hit Rate Fix Ever since the original Famicom version of Final Fantasy 1 there has existed a bug with regards to critical hit rates for weapons. Instead of using the intended crit hit rate the game would refer to the weapon's index number. This patch fixes this with the weapon's intended crit hit rate from the Famicom/NES version. This makes no attempt to balance anything nor does it do anything to the equipment new to Dawn of Souls. You can apply both patches to the same ROM without any issue however. The table below shows the index numbers versus the intended rate (which is what this patch changes them to). 01 Nunchaku - 10 02 Knife - 5 03 Staff - 1 04 Rapier - 10 05 Hammer - 1 06 Broadsword - 5 07 Battle Axe - 3 08 Scimitar - 5 09 Iron Nunchaku - 10 10 Dagger - 5 11 Crosier - 1 12 Saber - 10 13 Longsword - 5 14 Great Axe - 3 15 Falchion - 5 16 Mythril Knife - 5 17 Mythril Sword - 5 18 Mythril Hammer - 1 19 Mythril Axe - 4 20 Flame Sword - 5 21 Ice Brand - 5 22 Wyrmkiller - 10 23 Great Sword - 5 24 Sun Blade - 5 25 Coral Sword - 10 26 Werebuster - 5 27 Rune Blade - 5 28 Power Staff - 1 29 Light Axe - 3 30 Healing Staff - 1 31 Mage's Staff - 1 32 Defender - 5 33 Wizard's Staff - 1 34 Vorpal Sword - 30 35 Cat Claws - 5 36 Thor's Hammer - 1 37 Razer - 10 38 Sasuke's Blade - 30 39 Excalibur - 5 40 Masamune - 10 As you can see, this is a signficant nerf to many of the late game weapons and ALL the hammers and staves.
