Title: F-Zero Climax - Sand Storm Author: GuyPerfect, PowerPanda Version: 1.0 Applies to: F-Zero: Climax (All Versions) Contents: fzc_sandstorm.ips - The patch for all roms fzc_sandstorm.sav - A save file with prebuilt courses -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -=Intro and Description=- F-Zero Climax has two versions of the Sand Ocean world. High Speed Edge I/II/III take place in calm skies, and Key Break I/II/III take place in a sand storm. In Climax's track editor, the storm version is clumsily dummied out. Through the use of a cheat device, like Action Replay, the storm version is selectable. You can even save your course and export it to a friend, with full functionality! The only two drawbacks are that the editor UI will have the wrong palette and music, and the menus will claim that the course is in Mute City. This patch separates Sand Ocean and Sand Storm into separate, but related, venues. They share music and palettes, but one has the wind effect. The Key Break courses now take place in Sand Storm, which has its own icon in Grand Prix mode. Sand Storm also becomes selectable in the course editor, with the correct palettes and music. Courses created with this patch can be shared with anyone, and even loaded onto the retail cartridge. This patch is contained within the larger patch, "F-Zero: GP Climax". -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -=Save File Contents=- The included save file, fzc_sandstorm.sav, is completely optional, and not necessary for the patch to function. This save file has 4 courses prebuilt in the Sand Storm venue: *Death Wind I & II from F-Zero on the SNES *Sand Storm I & II from BS F-Zero Grand Prix on the SNES/BSX Note that Sand Storm I is intentionally set in Sand Ocean, and not Sand Storm. In BS F-Zero Grand Prix, the first race in Sand Storm takes place in a calm version, and the second in a stormy version. Also note that these recreations are not 1:1 recreations, but more "inspired by" the original tracks. F-Zero Climax has a smaller overall course size than SNES, and some of the trickier turns from Sand Storm cannot be recreated. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -=Patching Instructions and Compatibility=- This patch can be applied to the Japanese original rom and both the English and Spanish translations done by the "F-Zero Climax: Translation Project Team". Neither of the translation projects re-order the portions of the rom that hold the course lists. It can be applied with Lunar IPS. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -=Credits=- Hacking: GuyPerfect Direction, Graphics, and Premade Courses: PowerPanda
