Mega SWIV IPS patch 29th Feb. 2016 by fusaru made with HivePAL ==Purpose of the patch== Optimize the game's colors by taking the base SNES version as reference, stage 1 (MD exclusive) was fine tuned. ==Usage== Apply the included IPS file to the ROM (e.g. via Retron 5, dedicated program such as "StealthPatch IPS Patcher"). If you get a red screen, the checksum needs to be fixed. Programs such as ESE FixCheckSum can do this for you. ==Notes== *Not the best port, but not an easy one to port to Sega's "64 colors at once machine" in the developers defense. The original uses pastel and low contrast colors, not exactly the strength of SEGA's 16biter. Would have really preferd Amiga SWIV style visuals. *I wonder why they didn't use more mid stage palette switching. Most stages have big empty areas where that would work (Ecco the Dolphin series fro example does this). Also, really strange color choices, no dithering to compensate, graphics were seemingly converted by a program and not checked by an artist. Worst offenders: stage 1 boss, stage 7 as a whole, stage 3 *Gameplay also not true to the original, missiles are slower, attack patterns are more tame (esp. bosses), some enemies missing, some flying enemies have a shadow while others don't... *for HivePAL users that want to improve this or do their own colors 041EEC Stage2 Boss Guns 04B576 Stage1 Carrier 05706C Opening Text 057ED8 Time Warner Logo 059464 SCI Logo 05950A Title Screen 05D592 Opening Jet 05FD1C Opening Pilot 0615F6 Opening Communications Officer 062E12 Opening Underground 06449A Opening Tanks 0736CE Ending part1 07453E Ending part2 0D119C Stage1 0D121C Stage2 0D129C Stage3 0D131C Stage4 0D139C Stage5 part1 0D141C Stage5 part2 0D145C Stage6 0D14DC Stage6 ==legal stuff== Do whatever you want with these files, it's just a hobby.
