== About ==

This is a ROM hack for the NES game Super Mario Bros.

This hack gives you the ability to play through the entire
world of Super Mario Bros. as Princess Peach with her floating
powers from Super Mario Bros. 2!

The hack was made by SiWu (that's me) in early 2015. The Peach
sprite was made by Kishi for "Super Mario Bros.: Peach Edition",
Kishi was kind enough to let me use it for this hack.

I made this hack when I got struck by inspiration and
creativity after watching this video series by Double Fine and
2 Player Productions:

== Story ==

On a day like any other, the evil king Bowser invaded the
Mushroom Kingdom. He improsoned many of the kingdom's
inhabitants and stole it's main source of power, the magical
Power Star, intending to use it's limitless energy for his
evil schemes.

Princess Peach, the kingdom's responsible regent and a woman
of action, immediately set off to pursue Bowser, free her
people, and reclaim the Power Star.


== How to ==

This IPS patch needs to be applied to an expanded Super Mario
Bros. ROM. In order to make this easier for you, I've written
and included a small utility program called "SMB_Expander.exe"
that will expand the Super Mario Bros. ROM for you.

To expand the ROM, just place it in the same folder as
SMB_Expander and run the exe. If you're not using windows, the
ROM can be expanded manually, instructions on how to do that
can be found below.

Once the ROM has been expanded, use your favorite IPS patcher
to apply the patch to the expanded ROM. I recommend Lunar IPS
by FuSoYa (http://fusoya.eludevisibility.org/lips/index.html).


== Manual ROM expansion ==

To manually expand the Super Mario Bros. ROM, follow these
simple steps:

1. Open it up in a hex editor.
2. Insert 0x8000 (32768) zero bytes at 0x4010
3. Change the value 0x0004 from 0x02 to 0x04
4. Done! Apply the IPS patch and enjoy :)
