Super Mario Bros. 3: A New Journey (Version 1.1) AlanJacobs November 25th, 2016 ---------------------------------- Version 1.1 (December 11, 2016) ---------------------------------- -Fixes pipe bug in World 8 Castle 2 -Enemies in 8-1 Daylight (As was originally intended but was overlooked in its initial release) -New King Messages for Tanooki, Hammer, and Frog Mario. -Fixes minor Enemy Compatibility Graphics issues ---------------------------------- Project for Version 1.2 (Coming Soon) ---------------------------------- I could use your help. The number one complaint for this project is the difficulty. I happen to agree. I want this project to be playable for everyone so here's my plan for V1.2... -Two seperate patches for you to choose from... -The 'Red Piranha' Patch: A Patch for experienced players wanting a good challenge. This will be similar if not the same as the current version (V1.1) -The 'Goomba Stompin' Patch will be a major overhaul in my level designs for everyone of all skill levels to play. It will be an easier version of 'A New Journey' on par with the original SMB3 difficulty. I'm working on this right now. If you have any suggestions to make this game easier, find any bugs, or if you any questions at all regarding the game itself and how to pass certain levels, please send me a PM or let me know in the Board 2 Forum: http://acmlm.kafuka.org/board/thread.php?id=8679. I'd be happy to help you and vise versa. ---------------------------------- ROM Type: ---------------------------------- Works best with SMB3 (U) (PRG1) ROM ---------------------------------- About 'A New Journey' ---------------------------------- This is a continuation of Super Mario Bros. 3. I kept the original format and gameplay while creating 8 brand new worlds for Mario and Luigi to explore. Each world has its own theme with custom levels, overworld music and graphics. I want it to feel as if Mario and Luigi continued their adventure beyond the original 8 worlds. I did the best I could to polish this project into a professional, Nintendo quality adventure. I deliberately kept the original glitches. To me, it gives this game the same character as the original. -------------------------------------------------- Keep in mind! -------------------------------------------------- Piranha plants no longer hide from Mario! The Star Bros. have a unique throwing pattern! World Names: World 1: Fungi Marsh World 2: Native Ruins World 3: Crystal Canyon World 4: Bass Lake World 5: Golden Plains World 6: Piranha Forest World 7: Inferno Wasteland World 8: ? ------------------------------------------ Brief History Behind this Game ------------------------------------------ In the beginning of 2012, I began an unnamed hack for Super Mario World. I wanted to create an NES-Style SMB3 game and use the power of the SMW ROM to create different sprites and adventures. I created all the original SMB3 graphics into the SMW ROM and designed 4 unpolished worlds with levels. Later that year, I realized this project was a bit over my head, especially with the music, and decided to create my ideas using an SMB3 NES ROM. I eventually named this project 'Super Mario Raccoon'. I created a rough rendering of the first 6 worlds unpolished on April, 2013 and my progress has been at a crawl for a long time. All 8 worlds were finished in late 2015 and I've been doing a lot of polishing until its release in November. I renamed the project 'A New Journey' in August, 2016. ------------------------------------ CREDITS ------------------------------------ All custom graphics, music, sprites, overworld and level designs created by Alan Jacobs *except for levels 4-3, 4-8 and 8-Submarine designed by Mari42.
