In the aftermath of "Rockman 2: But all memes," Dr. Wily is once again vanquished by Rockman.

Six months later, Dr. Wily has turned over a new leaf and joins forces with Dr. Light to explore and find a way to eliminate the chaos in the gaming world.

They discover that eradicating these anomalies requires the collective strength of the entire gaming realm.

Thus, they dispatch eight self-made robots to different parallel universes within the gaming multiverse to gather ideas for creating a repair patch.

However, chaos also ensues in these parallel universes, and the eight robots suddenly go rogue, with Dr. Wily mysteriously disappearing during this crisis.

Left with no other choice, Dr. Light sends Rockman to investigate the situation and retrieve the "materials" needed to craft the patch. And so, Rockman embarks on an epic quest dubbed "The Gaming World Expedition"...
