FlamePurge is not liable for damage incurred to the end-user, their OS, or their hardware while using this patch. - Apply this patch only to an NTSC-U ISO with the following specifications. Clock Tower II - The Struggle Within (USA).bin BIN/CUE format image SHA1 - A3F9742D9D94AE8E88ADE8A4AA9B80939DD5AA9A MD5 - 8D50A909B995D23D4D3087A66EE9AF57 CRC32 - 46A5E547 - Players are encouraged to keep a backup of their original game file in case an error occurs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This archive contains the following files. - ClockTower_GhostHead_Yokubari_v100.txt: This readme - ClockTower_GhostHead_Yokubari_v100.xdelta: The patch file - ClockTower_GhostHead_Yokubari.cue: A CUEsheet for use with this game. I think the vanilla CUE will work fine, but I included this for simplicity's sake. It assumes your game image is named "ClockTower_GhostHead_Yokubari.bin". To change this, open the CUEsheet in Notepad and rename the line in quotation marks to suit the name you want for your game's BIN. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE TO THOSE PLAYING ON A PS2 WITH OPL To create Yokubari, I had to rebuild the ISO entirely. Therefore, the patch changes CTII's checksum. This interferes with OPL auto-setting graphics rendering hacks. Point being: ********************************************************************* ********************************************************************* *** For this mod to work in OPL, you must force-set the 0x4 hack. *** ********************************************************************* ********************************************************************* See here for more info: https://bitbucket.org/ShaolinAssassin/popstarter-documentation-stuff/wiki/compatibility There are still a few errors, as this stops some objects from properly disappearing at certain camera angles. I'm hoping that gets fixed as word of Yokubari grows. I have not seen anything else that has this issue. ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Overview [OVR2] ======== TEXT: - Restored all character, item, and location names from the NTSC-J original. - Script revised, a hybrid of the official localization and a new retranslation, based on translations by Waddle Bih. - Restored Fujika's original personality. - Hybridized Sho's more no-nonsense parlance with Bates' edgier, more adult way of speaking. - Typos and formatting issues corrected. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SOUND: - All Japanese voice acting tracks completely restored. This includes incidental sound effects, such as Alyssa/Yu's gasp, Stephanie/Chinatsu's laugh, Bates/Sho's grunt, etc. (Credit: swosho) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GRAPHICS: - Subtitled FMV for Ending A. (Credit: swosho) - Revised and retranslated Pamphlet's Story Guide graphics, based on translations by Waddle Bih. - Recolored Bowman/Gomoto's colored sketch in his Story Guide graphics to reflect his in-game skin and jeans tones. ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Changelog [CHG3] ========= v1.00 (Feb 23 2023) TEXT: - Restored all terms and names used in the NTSC-J original. Note that the Extra Mode rules and the Sound Test still call the monsters "zombies," as this discrepancy was present in the NTSC-J original. (Alyssa Hale -> Yu Midoshima Bates -> Sho Philip Tate -> Hajime Takano Kathryn Tate -> Yayoi Takano Ashley Tate -> Akiyo Takano Stephanie Tate -> Chinatsu Takano Michael Tate -> Masaharu Takano Allen Hale -> Takashi Midoshima Alex Corey -> Hitoshi Ishizue Doug Bowman -> Wataru Gomoto Shannon Lewis -> Fujika Henry Kaplan -> Tatsushi Uro Jessica Cook -> Atsushi Kishi Lynn Maxwell -> Rin Saido George Maxwell -> Fushihito Saido Amulet -> Mikoshi Milicana -> Inori Cerebral Toxin -> HU599 Bacterial Toxin Zombie -> Monster/Creature San Francisco -> Tokyo Monterey County -> Osaka Salinas -> Benten Ward Prunedale -> Sanmai Ward Memorial Hospital -> Benten Hospital Memorial Pharmaceuticals Research Lab -> Benten Pharmaceuticals Research Lab) - Spot-checked each line of text and compared it against retranslations by Waddle Bih. The absolute worst lines have been corrected, but much of the localization was fine to begin with. The largest correction was the distinction between the unnamed hallucinogenic chemicals and the HU599 toxin; this plot point is now much clearer. - Named Saido's stalker form "Ghost Head" for a connection to the NTSC-J title. This first appeared on the back of the NTSC-U cover art. - Merged Sho's more blunt personality with Bates' edgy and sadistic nature. - Restored Fujika's original personality. - Reformatted the script to account for unnecessary spaces after the colon and comma characters. - Retimed several subtitles to account for new and altered text. - Adjusted text to better clue player in on how to find the Back door key in Chapter 2. - Merged original text for Hint #1 and Hint #2, as they were similar to begin with. - Rewrote Hint #2 to be about Alyssa/Yu and Bates/Sho's different methods of dealing with a stalker situation. This is to help players understand that Yu doesn't use guns. - Rewrote Hint #8 to be about obtaining all 13 endings in just two playthroughs. The original Hint #8 text was absolutely worthless. - Various typos and inconsistencies inherent to the retail localization corrected. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SOUND: - [Applied Patch] Clock Tower II Undub by Swosho Completely restores all Japanese voice acting to the game, and subtitles the FMV for Ending A. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GRAPHICS: - Fully remade each page in the Pamphlet's Story Guide to account for the cast's restored names. - Added the number 9 to Chapter 2's font for "HU599". - Added the numbers 5 and 9 to Chapter 3's font for "HU599". - Added the capital letter K to Chapter 3's font for "Kishi". - Recolored Bowman/Gomoto's colored sketch in his Story Guide entries. Now it reflects his darker skin and dark-wash jeans from in-game. - Normalized item names to only capitalize the first letter of each name. - Reverted and corrected several Sound Test track titles. (Clock Tower II -> Ghost head Mistery -> Mystery Curse statue -> Cursed statue fear of death -> Fear of death truth -> Truth a crippled -> Crippled shiver~Zombi -> shiver~Zombie shiver~Maxwell -> shiver~Saido appear~Maxwell -> appear~Saido appear~Shannon -> appear~Fujika) ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Tools Used [TOL4] ========== - AddSubtitlesToSTR: SnowyAria aka ArcaneAria - Clock Tower II Extractor: ViM - CrystalTile2: angel-team - FFmpeg: The FFmpeg Team - GIMP: The GNU Project - HxD: Maël Hörz - jpsxdec: m35 - mkpsxiso: Lameguy64 - PS1mple RAW to TIM: weissvulf - Python: T Python Software Foundation - TIM Viewer: rveach - WindHex32: Bongo` ==================================================================================================== ==================================================================================================== Credits [CRD5] ======= - swosho: Undub patch and blessing to use it, guidance on modding the game, guidance on adjusting Ending A FMV subtitles, being an all-around awesome person. https://www.romhacking.net/community/7711/ - navarchos: Demystifying text, guidance on editing Character Guide, guidance on editing Sound Test track titles, also being an all-around awesome person with the patience of a saint! https://www.romhacking.net/community/6967/ - mziab: Guidance on using TIMViewer. https://www.romhacking.net/community/689/ - Waddle Bih: Translations from the NTSC-J original, providing test saves. https://twitter.com/waddlefuckisdis - BobSchneeder45: Demystifying item name images, guidance on editing Sound Test track titles. https://www.romhacking.net/community/6283/ - VampDeLeon: Reviewing/approving updated Bowman/Gomoto colors in the Story Guide. https://vampdeleon.carrd.co/ - TheNewSon: Special thanks for being one of the developers keeping the spirit of Clock Tower alive.
