================================================================================ Seiken Densetsu 3 / Trials of Mana -- Black Rabite v1.5 by hmsong ================================================================================ Originally, Black Rabite was a secret boss that you can only encounter in Duran/Angela path. This patch makes it so you can encounter it in all routes in the final Mana Holyland (the original Black Rabite is still available only in Duran/Angela route). It is in a semi-hidden location, so that you don't accidentally come across it and consequently get your whole party wiped out. Hint: Search the corners of the new parts of the Mana Holyland. You get the cool beginning script and BGM too (only once -- either the original or the new Black Rabite, but not both). In addition, Black Rabite now gives massive EXP -- a whooping 30,060 EXP! And just like the original game, it may drop the Moogle Badge. On the other hand, its melee power has increased greatly. It is a secret boss after all -- it better be difficult. There are two patches. Pick one, but they overwrite each other, so feel free to try both of them out: -"One-time" is the same as the original game, where if you kill the Black Rabite (in either Dragon's Hole or Mana Holyland), it stays dead. -"Respawn" makes the Black Rabite respawn after you leave the map (in both Dragon's Hole and Mana Holyland), meaning you can fight it as many times as you want to farm EXP and Moogle Badges. WARNING: For both the original and the new Black Rabite fights, you are now locked in the room -- no cheap escaping! The exit permanently opens up after you kill it the first time. BIG thanks to Map Jester (https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/986/). Map Jester is a SD3 map editing tool. 90+% of map information for SD3 for this patch came from using this tool. Applying Notes: - This is specifically for No Header ROM. If you only have a Headered ROM, then you can use TUSH (https://www.romhacking.net/utilities/608/) to remove the header. - Compatible with the English NCorlett-translation patch. But again, you need a No Header ROM. If you are using the translation patch from Romhacking.net, then you need to apply the translation to a Headered ROM first, then use TUSH to remove the header. And then you can apply my patches. - Compatible with the new Trials of Mana ROM, released in 2019. But again, you need a No Header ROM. Also, check out the SD3 hack discussion forum at: https://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=33648 Change Logs: 1.5 - Fixed EXP compatibility issue with praetarius5018's bugfix v1.8. 1.4b - Included a patch that doesn't make Black Rabite respawn. 1.4 - Relocated Black Rabite to a more hidden location. - Made Black Rabite give huge EXP. - Locked the exit in the original Black Rabite's room. - Fixed the unopening exit problem. 1.3 - Got the beginning script and the BGM working. It only works once though. - Moved the fight to a different map in Mana Holyland, due to the beginning script interfering with the other maps. - Removed the Great Demons. 1.2 - Minor changes in the mechanics. 1.1 - Raised Black Rabite's attack power. It is a secret boss after all -- gotta make it difficult. - You are locked in that room, and the only way to escape that room is to use the Wind Drum (which gets disabled during the battle). On the other hand, if you defeat them all, you get the victory animation and the music (and full recovery). 1.0 - Initial release. There are other hacks for Seiken Densetsu 3 that you should check out: Sin of Mana - http://ngplus.net/index.php?/files/file/28-seiken-densetsu-3-sin-of-mana/ - This changes the contents of the game in many ways, such as stat changes, equipment changes, class balance, difficulty, boss behaviors, running in battles, MP regeneration, dungeon format, and tons of bug fixes. It's a completely new game though, since so much has changed from the original game (especially character spells). - There is also a forum (google "Sin of Mana forum"), where you can ask the creator (praetarius5018) numerous questions. He is very helpful, and even helps you to create your own hack. He certainly helped me, for most of my hacks. - Sin of Mana is NOT compatible with the new Trials of Mana. - Sin of Mana is NOT compatible with hmsong's patches.
