I think it's mainly because these games are so innovative. Even the SFII clone versions of this game have their own unique style to them, though the Mega Drive (Genesis) version is the most interesting of the SFII clones. The unique format used in this game is that of cinematic battles played out as you put in the proper button presses. This is the only one for the Game Gear while the Super Famicom (Nintendo) had 2 cinematic battle games. Yuu Yuu Hakusho 1 and Yuu Yuu Hakusho 3: Tokubetuhen. I've already written an FAQ for 'Tokubetuhen' and decided to go to this game because it's abit simpler to make an FAQ for. In case you're wondering what FAQs I've made so far, then I'll tell you. I've made a total of 6 FAQs at the time of this writting. These FAQs are: G-Gundam -- SNES Sailor Moon -- SNES Sailor Moon R -- SNES Yuu Yuu Hakusho 3: Tokubetuhen -- SNES Justice Leauge Task Force -- SNES Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Fighting Edition -- SNES All of these FAQs can be obtained at my homepage: http://pages.prodigy.net/guyver_3/ or, you can find them at www.gamefaqs.com I hope you like this FAQ and that I can make many more for those who appreciate my work. Please feel free to write me with contributions or suggestions for future FAQs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- GAME MODES-- ONE PLAYER -- Okay, do I REALLY have to explaine this one?!?! LINK GAME -- Two player game w/ use of link cables. (anyone know if the Massage emulator can do 2-player games? I haven't looked) ONE PLAYER MODE-- TOURNAMENT -- Fighter the other characters for the #1 position. You get passwords for the Vs. mode here. EASY -- Fight the other 3 main characters and one 'Boss' No ending, just a "try hard mode" kinda screen. HARD -- Same as EASY but you fight all 3 'Bosses' this time. Beat this and get the ending credits. Vs. BATTLE -- Choose your fighter and your opponent. You cannot select bosses to fight as or aggainst unless you use the special passwords supplied latter on in the FAQ. EASY -- Just what the name implies. HARD -- Guess. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- GAME LAYOUT-- At the top of the battle screen is your opponent's life line. It goes from yellow, to red, to black. Once it's reached black, you've beaten your opponent. To the right of this is a timer that counts down from 5. This is how much time you have left to input your moves before that battle round takes place. This is actually your opponent's, but the same rule applies. Below their life line is their "move" bar, more on this later. To the right of that is their Ki meter, again, more on this latter. At the bottom of the screen is the same thing, except for YOUR stats. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE "MOVE" BAR-- This bar continues to fill and empty while you decide what moves to make. When the bar is filled blue, then your attacks will usually have a higher hit ratio than when it's nearly empty. When bar is empty (or close to it) then you'd better pray, because it'll be a miracle before you hit your opponent. =) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE KI METER-- This is the 5 icons that look like blue flames. These are your fuel, so to speak, for your special moves. These will regenerate after use in time. Each move has it's own 'Ki usage' wich I'll mark down at the appropriate time. If you don't have enough Ki to use a special move, nothing will happen. Punches and blocks do no use any Ki power. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE CROSSHAIR-- After you make your move a crosshair will appear on your opponent, either moving fast or slow. This crosshair help in your 'to hit' ratio it seems with the best chance to hit at the face, shoulders, or chin. Mostly the face. You have no control over the crosshair, so you just have to be good with a trigger finger to get it where you want it. It moves in a pattern so if you can get that down, you shouldn't have much trouble. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE STAR SYSTEM-- As you fight, you may notice red stars appearing below your Ki meter, or your opponent's ki meter. These stars appear at differant times as you fight. When you obtain 3 stars a star will appear randomly on your opponent. Hit this star with the crosshair and you will do critical damage to them, taking out a HUGE amount of HPs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- KI RESOTRE MOVE-- When your Ki meter is running low, you can try and preform the Ki restore move wich, when successfull, will restore alot more Ki than waiting for several rounds to pass. Usually you get one Ki back a round, but this move has given me up to 4 Ki in the round that I used it in. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- MOVE KEY-- -> -- Right on controler <- -- Left on controler I -- Button I II -- Button II --------------------------------------------------------------------------- STANDARD MOVES-- I -- Punch <- + I -- Dodge -> + I -- Ki Restore II -- Special Move #1 (uses 2 Ki) <- + II -- Special Move #2 (uses 3 Ki) -> + II -- Special Move #3 (uses 4 Ki) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE CHARACTERS-- Here are the characters as they appear in the character select screen. Characters 1 - 4 are the main 'hero' characters, while 5 - 7 are the 'bosses' you cannot control untill the proper password is entered in VS. mode. #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6 #7 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHARACTER SPECIAL MOVE LIST-- #1: Yuusuke Urameshii II -- Spirit Gun (2 Ki) <- + II -- Shotgun (3 Ki) -> + II -- Majiin Strike (4 Ki) #2: Kuwabara Kazuma II -- Spirit Sword (2 Ki) <- + II -- Fire Beam (3 Ki) -> + II -- Twin Sword Strike (4 Ki) #3: 'Miwamino Shurichi' Kurama II -- Rose Whip (2 Ki) <- + II -- Rose Peddles (3 Ki) -> + II -- Yohko "Demon Fox" Kurama Strike (4 Ki) #4: Hiei II -- Fire Sword (2 Ki) <- + II -- Fire Punches (3 Ki) -> + II -- Demon Fire Dragon (4 Ki) #5: 'Kyokudai' Toguro (maximum power) II -- Finger Bullet (2 Ki) <- + II -- Empty Punch (3 Ki) -> + II -- Power Charge (4 Ki) #6: Itsuki II -- Demon Eyes Illusion (2 ki) *This move is a counter attack move. You take no damage from enemy fire and will counter with a punch. <- + II -- Shadow Hands Strike (3 Ki) -> + II -- Micro-Monster Barrage (4 Ki) #7: Sensui Shinobu II -- Powerball Kick (2 Ki) <- + II -- Arm Cannon (3 Ki) -> + II -- Armoured Strike (4 Ki) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- COPYRIGHT INFORMATION-- This FAQ is Copyright KageKaze (Troy Ludwig), this document may be reproduced as long as no information is changed or edited in any way.
