Love Hina Advance: English translation v0.98 ============================================ What this is: ------------- - English translation patch for the game Love Hina Advance, for the Gameboy Advance. - Since people have different tastes, and we couldn't decide which was better, we have included 2 versions: LHA_A.IPS and LHA_B.IPS. Their only difference is in fonts. The first one contains a smaller and neater font, but it's also harder to read. The second font is more readable but also larger. Use whichever you want. What's done in this patch: -------------------------- + All game and menu text (Exception: see below) + Variable Width Font What's not done: ---------------- - 2 karaoke songs. These are not only hard to translate, they require special inserting and timing as well. One is the Kaolla Su song you can hear near the end, the other is the rather-hidden one by Shinobu. Stuff for future releases: (maybe) -------------------------- * Translate the 2 karaoke songs * Revise the game script * Get around all the space limitations * Add a nice new logo * Whatever else we can think of Translation notes: ------------------ After great dedication, hard work, blahblahblah, we are proud to present our translation patch. This release has been tested extensively, and is hopefully free of any major bugs. While playing the game, if you are familiar with the Japanese version, you will probably notice that the text in this patch differs greatly from the original in several places. This is because: 1) There are space limitations we can't get around 2) Some things just can't be translated (Kansaiben dialect, Su's wordplays) 3) Some things didn't really make sense in the original 4) The translator is incompetent There are quite a few Japanese words left in the game as well. This is because we like them better this way. If you are a Love Hina fan, this shouldn't be a problem. Quick reference for the illiterate: Kanrinin - resident manager Onsen - hot springs Ronin - retake student Itadakimasu - it's what you say before eating Instructions ------------ 1) Just apply the IPS patch. Instructions for Dummies ------------------------ 1) Buy the Love Hina Advance cart. It should be available at most places that sell imports. On the web, places like lik-sang.com and ncsx.com are good bets. (Pity tronixweb.com doesn't seem to have it, they're great.) 2) Get yourself a cart copier so you can dump your cart onto your hard drive. If you can't access one, find an image of the ROM somewhere. Remember, do NOT download any ROM images you will find unless you own the original cart! Downloading a ROM for a game you do not own is ILLEGAL! 3) Once you have a working Japanese version of Love Hina Advance ROM on your computer, get an IPS patcher tool. http://www.zophar.net/utilities/genutil.html for example... 4) Use the IPS patcher program to apply the IPS patchfile to the ROMfile. 5) Now copy the modified file back to a cart and start playing! Contacting us ------------- You would want to contact us? Why? Well, if you really have a good reason to. But first, before writing to us, read these rules: The DO's + Letters of thanks are welcome, they will help boost our egos + Do write bug reports if you find any + REASONABLE suggestions are fine The DON'Ts - Do NOT ask us to send you an image of the ROM or ask for help in finding it! You would be asking us to do something illegal. Not only will we not help you, but we will also add your name and e-mail address to a list of idiots in following versions. We might also forward your contact information to Nintendo of America - they are always interested in finding people who try to pirate their property. - Do not ask when/if the next version is coming out - Do not ask us to translate something else - we're probably not going to do any new projects. - Don't ask for us to help you on romhacking or translation - we suck at those. You're better off asking someone else. - Don't ask to be part of this project. While we appreciate the offer, we don't really intend to take this much further. - Don't ask our help if you can't get this patch to work. It's not hard. Just try it yourself. If you've read all the above, and think that you could write to us, then do so. We can't guarantee a reply though. We've set up an email for feedback, at lhaproject@uct2.net. Other stuff ----------- Oh, right... we did all this: Chief Ug - translation, script romhacking, hogging all the credit to himself mandom - ASM romhacking, graphics dumping and editing Gangis - graphics Also thanks to X-Sykodad for being a persistent otaku and beta tester! ........................
