Advanced Military Commander - Patch version 0.95 By Nebelwurfer Major things left to do: A) Modify splash page graphics to display English. Its a difficult game to play, but the on-line manual that I put up on my website should help. You can track the progress of the Translation effort and view the on-line manual by going to: http://www.geocities.com/nebelwurfer_42/Overview.htm History Version 0.95 - 4/24/06 === FINAL === All scenarios and the End Game text have been translated. A new version of the AMC Scenario viewer has been included with this relase, because the earlier one did not have a large enough buffer to hold all the text and would corrupt some of the briefing font characters. The Campaign tree document is completely filled out. I declare the translation officially complete. There will be no additional English language patch files for AMC. AMC has two "hidden" modes as described below: A) Scenario Editor: In the main menu, click on "Standard" to enter the Scenario selection area. Select "Load" and pick the scenario that you wish to modify. Next push the Up Arrow key three times and then hit the "C" key. You should enter a screen where you can rename countries, change starting money, etc. B) Construction Kit In the main menu, press the arrow key once right, once left, click on "Standard", don't load a scenario, then finally click on the new "Edit" button at the very bottom of the screen. The only change to the IPS patch file for version 0.95 was fixing a piece of text on the Construction Kit screen to show "Terrain". I must acknowledge the excellent assistance that I received from Werwolf and Chris, without which this translation effort could not have been completed. Chris played through a number of difficult scenarios in the late war period. Werwolf loaned me a copy of the original Japanese AMC Manual to translate and also played through many difficult scenarios. I am now free to refocus my efforts on the Napoleon and Advanced Daisenryaku IV translations. Although it has taken me 4 years to reach this point, I have learned a great deal about Japanese and Romhacking so I consider the time well spent. I hope you have as much fun playing the game as I did translating it. Nebelwurfer - April 24, 2006 Version 0.80 - 8/26/05 All scenarios through the end of 1941 on the Eastern Front have been translated, and can be viewed with the AMC Scenario Viewer application. Minor changes have been made to the milcomm.bin patch. One of the General names has been changed. A couple of the Unit Commands have changed. Also the last unknown terrain type has been identified as "Quattera Depression". Version 0.75 - 11/08/04 The AMC scenario viewer has been modified so that it can display multiple endings for a scenario. If a scenario has multiple endings, then a listbox will be displayed to allow you to choose the ending you want to see. The scenario briefing/debriefing text for scenarios 5-9 has been added. This covers the war up to the Fall of France. After this, the campaign branches off into 4 different paths, based on how well you are doing. I'll be playing the Battle of Britain scenario next, since its next in the campaign scenario list. I have also added a Campaign Tree document to this release. This lists the next scenario you will encounter in the campaign based on how well you do in the current scenario. Version 0.70 - 5/26/04 I couldn't stand not knowing what the scenario briefings were saying, so I wrote a utility to display both the original Japanese and translated English versions of this text. I have translated the briefings and after action reports for the first 5 campaign scenarios. To view them, just run the AMC Scenario Viewer application that is now included in the patch ZIP file. Of course you should only look at the scenario text as you begin/complete the missions to avoid spoiling the fun. The program reads a file called scenarios.txt, so it is relatively easy to add new scenarios to the list or change the translated English text that is already there without having to modify the program. I know that my Japanese language skill is weak. Anyone that can do a better job of translating this scenario text is welcome to submit their efforts to Nebelwurfer HQ for consideration. I will be posting additional updates as time allows. Version 0.65 - 12/20/02 1) Completed translation of unit, weapon, and terrain tables. 2) Translated captions for the pictures that are displayed when the campaign is over. 3) Translated the paragraphs of text that display when the campaign is over.
