STORY -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was an incident in an apartment in a certain town during the Edo period. Sakichi and some other people, who are tenants of the apartment building, were in the middle of persuading the landlord somehow to wait for the rent that has been piling up. There, a young priest appeared out of nowhere and he says calling out to Sakichi from behind the door: "This is the wondrous sake introduced by those southern barbarians. When you make your landlord drink this, he is going to completely forget something like the rent." Half convinced, Sakichi offered the sake that was handed to him to the landlord and said: "Why don't you have a nice drink?" The on looking people instantly also wanted to drink. Besides Sakichi, who remained distrustful, all drank the sake and went to sleep having a great feeling. Then, the young priest from before appeared. Sakichi, hiding himself, saw what the young priest did. He raised his hands to the chest of a sleeping man and took out something resembling a bluish-white flame from the man's throat. He swiftly stored it inside a gourd. And like that the souls of the sleeping people were taken out one by one and were collected. The young priest noticed the surprised Sakichi who saw all this and said: "I'm a Death God. I took the souls of all the guys who drank the sake. I will return to heaven now, having finished with this month's quota. Well now, goodbye!" Sakichi instinctively decides to hang on to the leaving Death God and followed him to Heaven. If done clumsily Sakichi himself would become an inhabitant of Heaven as well, however he wishes to return to the transient world [i.e. world of the living] with the 4 souls that were stolen... BACKGROUND -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some of the references in the game have to do with concepts from Buddhism and/ or Japanese culture. W2H102TR.IPS - +2 Trainer patch. Works for English or Japanese version. W2H102EN.TXT - this text file. HOW TO APPLY THIS PATCH -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. This patch is in the IPS format. That means you need to apply it with an IPS patch program. There are many programs to choose from. On a regular MSX you can use IPS4MSX.COM. Lunar IPS or IPS.EXE for instance do the job nicely on PCs. MAC-users can apply the patch with a program like UIPS. But there are many other suitable programs. If you're planning to play the translated version on openMSX you don't need to patch your ROM at all. This emulator supports soft patching. Look in openMSX' documentation on how to use patches in this way. 2. Make a dump of the Japanese Welcome to Heaven for MSX2. If you don't know how to do this or if you don't have the equipment to do it yourself AND own the original cartridge, then you can get one of the ROM files available on the internet. Be sure you use the patch on a clean dump though. Any changes made to the ROM file, like for instance an applied cheat, might result in undesirable side-effects after patching. Make a back up of the dumped ROM file just in case. 3. Place the IPS program, this patch and the ROM of Welcome to Heaven you want to patch in the same directory. Apply the patch to the ROM file. 4. On an MSX2, MSX2+ or Turbo R the game should work with any program you ordinarily load MegaROMs with. Provided that you have enough memory of course. On emulators that don't have auto ROM type detection or when it doesn't seem to work correctly, select the 'ASCII 8' ROM type.
