This is an UNOFFICIAL English translation of GETSUFUUMA DENSETSU, an action/RPG released by KONAMI way back before even I could remember. What's New? ---------------------------------------------------------- v1.00 (10/17/98): - Documentation updated - It was 100% done before. Why was it not version 1.00? v0.90 (02/07/98): - Initial Release... - Should be 100% complete - If you go looking for the rom... it's in a vertigo (or GITM) pack by the name of GETSUFUU.NES ---------------------------------------------------------- 2. The Story of Getsufuuma Densetsu ---------------------------------------------------------- In the first years of the Demon Age, the Dragon Master was revived by his minions in hell. To protect the peace of the overworld, the two eldest Fuuma brothers fought the Dragon Master. Both were unable to defeat him and were killed, losing their legendary Wave Swords, called Hadoukens. To avenge this, the last of the Fuuma brothers vowed to slay the Dragon Master, and take back the Hadoukens. ---------------------------------------------------------- 3. How to Start ---------------------------------------------------------- The archive includes an IPS file. The IPS file is to be applied to ROM images acquired from somewhere else, and it's up to you to obtain it. First, you need a copy of the Getsufuuma Densetsu ROM image, and an IPS patching program. An easy-to-use patching program for MS-DOS based systems, IPS.EXE, can be obtained at RPGe (http://fx.ml.org/rpge/archives/). This patch must be applied to the ORIGINAL, unmodified ROM. To use IPS.EXE with the Gestufuuma Densetsu patch, get yourself a DOS prompt and type the following: IPS GETSUFUU.NES GD-V100.IPS Replace GETSUFUU.NES with the filename of your ROM image. After you've patched your ROM image, load the game inside your favorite NES emulator, and you should see the title screen. You're ready to start. ---------------------------------------------------------- 3a. Controller functions: ---------------------------------------------------------- Overworld: D-Pad : Move hero in all 4 directions Start : Status Inside a level: D-Pad : Move hero left and right A Button : Jump B Button : Swing sword Start : Pause Select : Use items when paused ---------------------------------------------------------- 3b. The Menu Screen ---------------------------------------------------------- The menu screen is simple and shows basic items and fields such as gold and life remaining. ---------------------------------------------------------- 3c. Advanced Battle Tactics ---------------------------------------------------------- Because the control in Getsufuuma Densetsu is quite LOOSE, you can jump during a fall if you're still walking. So if you walk off the edge, you can jump in mid-air. Take time to visit the shops and upgrade your sword, you'll need more power in the later levels. ---------------------------------------------------------- 4. Which Emu's & Copiers does Getsufuuma Densetsu work on? ---------------------------------------------------------- Compatibility list for emulators as of Jan 29, 1998: ---------------------------------------------------- Nesticle 0.43 - Great... Mapper #23 is fully supported. Our choice! iNES 0.7 - Umm... NO... it supports the mapper. In terms of speed, color, sound, price, ... why bother?? Getsufuuma Densetsu has not been tested on any copiers by members of RPGe. ---------------------------------------------------------- 5. Problems with Translations ---------------------------------------------------------- - The script had to be 'worked' a bit to make it fit... but it's still relatively good. - In the script the Wave Swords are referred to as the 'Hadoukens' but in the status bar they are called the 'WaveSwords'... This is so I can use the 'Sword' tiles again in the status... ---------------------------------------------------------- 6.
