====================================================== ===========Chef Cookie in Gourmet World=============== ======================V1.00=========================== Genre: Platformer Source language: Japanese Patch language: English Author: Pennywise E-mail: yojimbogarrett@gmail.com http://yojimbo.eludevisibility.org/ ====================================================== Chef Cookie in Gourmet World ====================================================== Background: I began to consider this project after I had just finished doing a translation of another game programmed by Disco, which was very easy to do, and I saw that Chef Cookie was programmed by them as well. So I figured I'd add a side project for myself to work on on and off. As such it took me several months to finish it, but it's done now. This game was officially translated as Panic Restaurant, but it changes a lot of stuff and is quite frankly not that great of a localization. There was also a fan translation done over 10 years ago, but the title screen wasn't done and there were a few limitations in the translation that could've been fixed with some ASM hacking and a good debugger. Most of the translation aspects of this patch was made possible by a group effort on the forums. The highlight being Ryusui figuring out the meaning Kokkun, the name of the protag, which more or less means Cookie and the rest of the title came together quite naturally. A special mention goes to simonbelmont2 who very much wanted to see this game translated and through his efforts several aspects of the patch are thanks to him. There's also a HG101 article for the game, which should be checked out for those interested. http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/panicrestaurant/panicresturant.htm ====================================================== Patching Instructions ====================================================== Apply the patch to clean copy of the Japanese ROM: Wanpaku Kokkun no Gourmet World (J) P.S. Support the game industry by buying used games! Even if the money doesn't go to the developers directly, as the games become rare and harder to find, the price goes up, and people become more inclined to buy new releases "while they can!" ====================================================== Credits go to: Pennywise - Hacking Paul Jensen - Dialogue Translation, Misc Translation Ryusui - More Translation Help sin_batsu - title screen design DvD - Additional Title Screen Design & Hacking All those who contributed into this process. ====================================================== Compiled by Pennywise.
