======================================================= ====================Rainbow Silkroad=================== ========================V 1.0========================== Genre: RPG Source language: Japanese Platform: Famicom Patch language: English Author: aishsha/Pennywise E-mail: aishsha@gmail.com yojimbogarrett@gmail.com http://aishsha.blogspot.com http://yojimbo.eludevisibility.org/ ====================================================== Pennywise's comments ====================================================== This translation of Rainbow Silkroad was discussed after we finished work on our translation of Sansara Naga. While looking for other games made by the devs, we discovered this game. This game was already translated by Gaijin Translations, but we looked it over and felt that overall it was somewhat abbreviated and would have benefited from a new translation. So we undertook the project. aishsha did the lions share of everything, while I focused on other stuff. He did the translation and most of the hacking relating to ROM expansion and various other hacks. I did the title screen which was designed by M-Tee and also did a hack that allows you to name your player up to 8 characters. Once most of the hacking was done, the game was passed over to our friend Eien ni Hen, who went through the game and edited the script as she progressed. Eventually the game began formal testing with a few bumps along the way and now the project is finally finished a few years after it was started. ====================================================== aishsha's comments ====================================================== I believe this whole thing started for me loooong ago. While being a Daikokukai Jidai series fan, this very game reminded me of those. I looked through and found that Gaijin's translation of this game, while being top-notch for its time (eternal fame for the pioneers of our trade :)), could be done even better with the tools and knowledge of today. First, I'd like to say that we by no case wanted to doubt the original work, as this translation was made from scratch. And I mean totally. The game was pretty non-standard to hack, but in the end, with eien's assistance and w/o any space limitations of old, we managed to make a translation you're looking at now. ====================================================== Patching Instructions ====================================================== Due to changes made to the ROM, the patch is in BPS format. You either want to download a program called beat by byuu or Floating IPS, which can be found here: http://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=11474 Apply either patch to the Japanese version of the game: Niji no Silkroad (J).nes We would be highly grateful, if you find some time to contact us with proposals or corrections. Information on found bugs or corrections would be highly appreciated. P.S. Support the game industry by buying used games! Even if the money doesn't go to the developers directly, as the games become rare and harder to find, the price goes up, and people become more inclined to buy new releases "while they can!" ====================================================== Credits go to: aishsha - hacking, translation, testing Pennywise - hacking, testing, editing Eien ni Hen - editing, testing Ryusui - misc spot translations harmony7 - misc spot translations M-Tee - title screen design and misc hacking Lord Oddeye - testing Hubz - testing Xanathis - testing All those who contributed into this process. ====================================================== Compiled by Pennywise.
