The Light of Indra v1.0 Beta July 31, 2017 KingMike Translations, kingmike2001 at hotmail *********** INTROUCTION *********** The land of Indra is ruled by the god Byrn. Byrn has gone into a deep sleep and now darkness has taken over. This is a game mixing a Dragon Quest-style turn-based system with some of the exploration of The Legend of Zelda. This patch is a beta patch. It translates all the text, but enemies and spell names I'm not so sure about. **** TEAM **** Sorry, this has been so long that my memory might be incorrect. I believe these are the contributors but if I am wrong, please send me a correct. KingMike - Programming modifications, tools BRPXQZME - translation FlashPV - title Also, the authors of these tools - FCEUltra, GNES - emulators for testing - NESTEN - ASM tracing *********** WHAT'S DONE *********** Everything should be playable. This patch will also make one gameplay change, correcting what is believed to be a bug in the original game. Originally, Agility would be lowered by 1/4 of Defense and 1/4 of the low byte of EXP. It has been changed to 1/4 of the Attack and Defense stats, which would seem like the intended effect. ************ WHAT'S BUGGY ************ Translation on some names might be a bit off, please send me corrections. ********************* PATCHING INSTRUCTIONS ********************* First you will need to expand the ROM, such as with my program NFlate. Expand from 128KB to 256KB. If you want to manually do it, copy the header + the first 112KB (0-1C00F), then add 128KB (0x20000) of blank space, then add the last 16KB of the original ROM (1C010-2000F). Then patch the ROM. **************** EMULATION ISSUES **************** Just about anything should play this. ***************** PLAY INSTRUCTIONS ***************** Control Pad - move characters Select - change text scroll between manual or auto Start - pause the game B Button - cancel menus A Button - open menu and confirm selections You can and often will have your party members get stuck on objects. If you scroll them off the screen they will leave the party. You will have to get them back by walking back to their screen. Menu ---- Items - Use, drop or pass items between characters Power - Check stats Spell - Use a spell Move - Try to push stuff on the overworld to find secrets. Fighting -------- Fight, use items or spells, or try to flee (first person only) Shops ----- There are several shops in each town. There's weapon and armor shops, item shops, and a shop that will sell a special item for each town. At a shrine, you can save, get advice or revive party members. Reviving is kind of a pain in this game though. When a party member dies, their soul leaves to the netherworld or something, and a grave is placed on the site where they died. You need to ask the priest to summon their soul back to the world, AND THEN you have to walk back to their grave and cast a spell to call them back to a human. And then they'll only get 25% of their HP back. Spells ------ Healing Rimed - Restore some HP Zerimed - Restore more HP Rilaf - Calls Soul back to alive Zeraf - Calls Dead back to alive Movement Ahmed - Calls a lost companion back to the current screen Sheesul - Destroy all enemies Pikara - Light caves (like a Lantern, use before entering) Rifoh - Return to the entrance of a cave Attack Zug - Thunder Foa - Fire Torna - Tornado Zugfo - Thunder+Fire Status Dejab - Attack with a double Demube - Stop enemy ********* COPYRIGHT ********* Indra no Hikari is (c)1987 Kemco Translation (c)2009-2014 KingMike, BRPXQZME NO PRE-PATCHED ROM DISTRIBUTION.
