=====================Ninja Jajamaru==================== ===================The Ninja Scrolls=================== ==========================V1.02======================== Genre: RPG Source language: Japanese Platform: Famicom Patch language: English Author: aishsha/Pennywise E-mail: aishsha@gmail.com yojimbogarrett@gmail.com http://aishsha.blogspot.com http://yojimbo.eludevisibility.org/ ====================================================== About Ninja Jajamaru The Ninja Scrolls ====================================================== Background: Woo boy, this is another translation by aishsha and I that's been nearly finished for years now that I finally got around to finishing. aishsha did the lion's share of work by translating and hacking the game. I don't recall doing much aside from maybe some proof of concept hacks on hacking the chapter selection screen to use horizontal text instead of vertical text. Once the game got passed over to me near complete, I finished up the title screen with FlashPV's help and expanded the chapter titles again. The game then went through a round of testing and now has been released. This project is a bit of a milestone for aishsha and myself. First, all the Jajamaru games on the NES are now translated into English and second, we've had to have translated at least 20 games by now. It's been almost 10 years now and we've gotta have one of the most productive partnerships in the history of the fan translation community. It's a miracle we're still as productive as we are, but the best is yet to come. Now as for the game itself, it's your typical DQ clone in a Japanese setting. However, it mixes things up with a few twists added to the formula and a wacky sense of humor that pokes through here and there. The game features three chapters which can be played in any order plus a final chapter that's unlocked once all three chapters are finished. The game also does a pretty good job of providing you with hints on where to go next. All in all, it's a pretty solid game if you're into NES DQ clones. ====================================================== Version History ====================================================== 1.0 - initial release 1.01 - fixed broken passwords 1.02 - fixed dice minigame ====================================================== aishsa's Comments ====================================================== As Pennywise commented above, this is one of those long-builders put on the shelf ages ago. As far as I can recall now, the work on this started in the long-forgotten 2013 when I looked at the game after our first Jaja title translation and found it way too difficult for the skills I had then. Then Djinn stepped in by hacking the title screen, and we finally decided to clear all possible Jaja titles to English. Comparing to all other Jajamaru games, this one is a pure DQ-clone with quite an interesting chapter based story telling (do play all of them ;)). All in all, I am happy this found its way to release despite all the odds, leaving quite a milestone of our hacking lives in the successful past. Enjoy the game and buy the original if you like it! ====================================================== Game Tips ====================================================== *Enemies tend to drop special items. *No matter the chapter, Princess Sakura will join you after you beat the first boss. Just find the right NPC... ====================================================== Patching Instructions ====================================================== Due to limitations in the IPS format and the changes I made to the ROM, I'm only supporting BPS and xdelta formats for this game. You can download a program to patch from here: http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/1040/ http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/598/ Apply the patch to the original Japanese version of the ROM: Jajamaru Ninpo Chou (J).nes We would be highly grateful, if you find some time to contact us with proposals or corrections. Information on found bugs or corrections would be highly appreciated. P.S. Support the game industry by buying used games! Even if the money doesn't go to the developers directly, as the games become rare and harder to find, the price goes up, and people become more inclined to buy new releases "while they can!" ====================================================== Credits go to: aishsha - translation, hacking Pennywise - additional hacking, editing, testing Djinn - rom expansion hacking Ryusui - spot translations, editing TheMajinZenki - spot translations Harmony7 - misc spot translations Tom - misc spot translation cccmar - testing Xanathis - testing ====================================================== Compiled by Pennywise.
