------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Kid Niki 2: Karakuri Land Patch version 1.2 Written by Derrick Sobodash Copyright 1998-2004 Released on April 3, 2004 http://www.cinnamonpirate.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HISTORY v1.2: * Fixed the ending (6 years and nobody tells me it's broken?) * Added a lower-case font. v1.1: * Added ending translation. Thanks to loiosh for pointing this out and giving me a save state. v1.0: * Initial release ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ INTRODUCTION Set after rescuing the princess in Kid Niki: Radical Ninja, a new amusement park called "Karakuri Land" has opened in Edo. The princess asks Kid Niki to take her to the amusement park, but he blows her off since he's busy training. The princess and all the other visitors to the park disappear, and Kid Niki sets out to rescue everyone once again. The game is actually titled Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 2, but the Yanchamaru series was titles Kid Niki in the USA, so I went with that title instead. This patch was originally released in March of 1998 and was my first complete project. The actual text translation was done by Shujin-Rik, SoM2Freak, The_Ned and Harmony7. The bulk of the work for this project was all the graphics that needed to be translated. There really wasn't much dialogue. This is an update to the old translation I released in 1998. I wanted to make the patch available again, but I also wanted to deliver something a bit better than last time. First off, I added a lower case font to the game (using the Master of Orion font again). I also took time to play through the whole game again and make sure nothing got chopped. Apparantly, the old 1.1 patch which translated the ending BROKE the ending text and nobody ever told me! This is fixed now, so if you never did before, you can play through the game start to end without any glitches. I did not change the title screen because it would involve changing several hard coded palettes (there's a load of different color regions so it would be very difficult to make something that looks nice and fits around them), and I didn't want to risk damaging the game later on. So 6 years later, here is the final, 100% complete version of the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
