This is a translation of ROCKMAN 2 DE IPPATSU NETA by Mr. X (former host of http://sapporo.cool.ne.jp/kuniokun) (c)2008, which is based on Rockman 2 by Capcom (c)1988. English translation by Steve Penninipede (http://sites.google.com/site/spennlue) (c)2009. Please let me know if there are any typos or other errors, or if you liked the game and you're glad it's in English :D Thanks to: -Mr. X for making the original program. Unfortunately, his site seems to have lost to the mists of time. -All the smart, patient folks at the http://www.romhacking.net forums for their coding and translation help, as well as bug testing. -LUElinks/ETI, another message board full of people who performed some last- minute checks to see if this thing actually works. Feel free to distribute this RAR unaltered. Programs used: NJStar (http://www.njstar.com) Japanese word processor and dictionary NSIS (http://nsis.sourceforge.net) Installer-maker utility The Unisearcher (http://www.isthisthingon.org/unicode/index.phtml) Shift-JIS reference GetMyHex (http://www.romhacking.net/utils/504/) Shift-JIS converter Hex Workshop (http://download.cnet.com/Hex-Workshop/3000-2352_4-10004918.html) Hex editor Patching the game ----------------- Files included in this RAR: -R2 BBET.txt: this document -Rockman2 Neta English.exe: translates the game into English -"bonus" folder, containing two optional patches -R2 BBET 1 Health.exe: reduces health to a single point -R2 BBET Boss Doubler.exe: adds more bosses to fight -Two additional programs which undo the effects of the above The package you downloaded does not include the game itself, although it is available at my site: http://sites.google.com/site/spennlue/ What we have here are a document (which you are reading right now) and a program which will translate the game and ReadMe into English. Simply tell the program which folder the game is in. There are also a few fun bonus patches, which you are free to try out if you want an extra challenge. These extras have only been tested on a patched (English) version of the game, so be sure not to use them on the original Japanese version. Settings -------- Some of the game's settings can only be changed by editing the "rm2neta.ini" file. You may have to close and re-open the game to see any changes. ShowFPS Set this to 1 if you want to see the FPS (frames per second) displayed in the game window. Set to 0 to hide the FPS. FullScreen Set this to 1 to run the game in full screen, or 0 to run it in a window. If the picture does not display properly in full screen mode (for example, it is squished from the sides), try running the game in compatibility mode for Windows 95. VsyncWait Set this to 1 to turn on Vsync. Vsync helps keep the picture from splitting or tearing, but may slow down older computers. Zoom If FullScreen is set to 0, a higher zoom will increase the size of the window. 1 = normal, 2 = double zoom, 3 = triple zoom, etc. Don't set it to 0 or you won't be able to see anything. If FullScreen is set to 1, the Zoom level should also be set to 1. In-game Menus ------------- GAME START After a brief intro, you'll be taken to the main game. Fight! CONFIG All sorts of goodies get unlocked as you play. These will show up as "?????" in the mean time, so you won't even be able to see what they are until you unlock them. KEY CONFIG If you want to change your controls, you can do that in the KEY CONFIG menu after the title screen. Controls for this game are modeled after the original NES controller; press A to jump, B to shoot, and START to open the weapons menu. Assign a key on your keyboard to each of these, and you're good to go! To leave the screen and save your changes, press the button you assigned to B. If you totally mess up your controls, you can just close the program, delete the rm2neta.ini file (located wherever you installed the game), and run the game again. A fresh new rm2neta.ini will be generated for you. Don't mess it up this time! Misc ---- -This game has been compared to a skit called "The Last Days Of Dr. Wily" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpP_BKPa5Oc). -Make sure to tell me that you played and/or enjoyed the game! http://sites.google.com/site/spennlue/
