"The Romancing Sa-Ga EV Ver .40" - Released May 1, 1998 Readme by Shujin-Rik "Thousands of years have passed, the seal is weakening and Sharuyin is breaking lose. It is time for a new hero to fight again. " Well, a long time ago, back at the end of February, a group of beginner ROM hackers and one translator were in a chat talking about a project revolving around an RPG called Romancing Sa-Ga. They never quite knew what to expect, but then they decided to do a little messing around and work with it. What occured in the next month was a huge amount of effort put into this work. As a result, we hope you are pleased with what we have done so far and have begun the next phase of our job. Constant Problem =>"I can't see the intro." Use the Scitech Screen Doctor to fix it. This is a transparency problem. If you are using it right it will show up in white. If not the text will be black. =>"Names Vanish Using Zsnes rom loads" If you are just using the instant Save/Reload features built in you may experience some names not being there until you leave the scene and come back. This does not occur with straight rom loads as if you were really playing the game. What Is New In Ver .40 => Some special attacks. => Intro finally done with 16x16 tiles. => Dialogue for the Lords Son scenario done up to leaving Valhalland. => Dialogue for the Ranger scenario up to Miribiru. Basic Help => Combat is done in a "layering concept" so your front line is always under attack while the rear is OK. This lets you also fight large groups of enemies without worrying since only their front line can attack (unless they use magic or ranged attacks). => Fight everything you come across. Best way to build up your abilities. => If you want to get better in a weapon or spell type, use it a lot. => When you leave a screen/area, the monsters come back, so be careful not to get too weak in the middle of a dangerous area. The Team => Shujin-Rik - Head translator, web page maintainer, all around nice guy ^_^ => MakoKnight - Lords Son ROM hacker, font changer, map maker, etc. => Hakai - translator of the Adventurer's mission => Musashi - translator of the Ranger's mission => Tamahome - Script Dumper => Hoky - Da Monsta King & The Ranger Hacker Special Thanks Special thanks go out to Dark Force, Frankie, Jeff, Yo, Chisato, Yohko and anyone else who we forget to list. Thanks for all the help and support. More special thanks to Surge and Instant Ramen for sustaining us in this work.
